The journey of Trap House has been anything but predictable. What began as a mid-budget action thriller quietly making its way through theaters has transformed into a streaming conversation piece, finding a broader audience months after its initial release. That second wave of attention has reignited interest in its gritty world and larger-than-life characters.

With more viewers discovering the film on Netflix, speculation about its future has picked up pace.

As of March 2026, Trap House 2 has not been officially renewed by Netflix or Capstone Studios, the studio behind the film. There has been no announcement confirming that a sequel is in development, and the project does not appear on any publicly revealed upcoming slates. However, the possibility has not been ruled out.

The original film was structured with expansion in mind, featuring an open-ended conclusion and a younger ensemble cast positioned for longevity, according to Dave Bautista's interview with MovieWeb.

"And the reason was that I set this film up to be a franchise. And I knew, moving forward, it would be all about the kids" Bautista told MovieWeb.

While its theatrical run was modest and reviews were mixed, streaming performance can significantly influence modern franchise decisions. If engagement numbers remain strong, internal conversations about continuing the story could gain traction.

Character continuity and world-building depth often determine whether an action film evolves into a multi-installment saga.

Will the Trap House cast reprise their roles?

If a sequel to Trap House moves forward, Dave Bautista would likely reprise his leading role, as his character serves as the narrative anchor. The first film leaves several unresolved threads, particularly involving the broader criminal network, which could naturally serve as the foundation for escalation in a follow-up installment.

Producers appeared to position the supporting characters for long-term development, suggesting that future installments could gradually shift focus, expand character backstories, or introduce internal conflicts within the team.

Given the emphasis on the kids, it is very likely that if a Trap House 2 ever came into being, Sophia Lillis, Jack Champion, Blue del Barrio, and Zaire Adams are likely to reprise their roles.

With younger characters introduced as long-term players, a second chapter could deepen internal dynamics, explore shifting loyalties, and raise the stakes beyond the original mission structure. Additionally, Netflix could consider alternative formats if data support expanding the universe in a more serialized way rather than through a traditional theatrical-style sequel.
