Season 8 of Outlander is not currently streaming on Netflix in the United States. The eighth and final season premiered on March 6, 2026, exclusively on Starz. New episodes will be released weekly every Friday, continuing the rollout of the final ten-episode run that will close the television adaptation.

Episode 1 is titled Soul of a Rebel, while the remaining episodes will follow a 12 a.m. ET schedule. With the finale episode on May 8, 2026. The season will conclude the series even though the final book in Diana Gabaldon’s literary saga has not yet been published. 

Executive producer Matthew B. Roberts has explained how he approached the final season's premature ending in February 2026. 

“What we want is a really authentic season of Outlander, I wanted this to fit fully into the series, and I think we successfully have done that,” he explained to Entertainment Weekly. In other words, the ending aims to feel like a natural continuation of the saga rather than a grand farewell stitched together for sentimentality.

Of course, a finale carries the most weight when you have lived through the journey, which brings us to the obvious pre-finale ritual: catching up on the earlier seasons.

Before diving into the final season, many viewers may want to revisit the road that brought Jamie and Claire to this moment. The good news: Seasons 1-7 of Outlander are currently available to stream on Netflix, making it one of the easiest ways to catch up before the finale. Based on the bestselling novels by Diana Gabaldon, the series follows Claire Randall, played by Caitriona Balfe, a World War II nurse mysteriously transported from 1945 back to 18th-century Scotland.

There she meets Highland warrior Jamie Fraser, portrayed by Sam Heughan.
