According to Netflix Tudum, the notorious criminal, Robert Napper, pleaded guilty in 1995 to the manslaughter of Samantha and Jazmine Bisset. Today, he has remained detained indefinitely at Broadmoor Hospital since 2008. Back in 1995, he also admitted to three unsolved s****** a******** that occurred in 1989 along the Green Chain Walk in Southeast London. Due to his diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia, the court sentenced him to indefinite confinement at Broadmoor Hospital.
When a forensics team re-examined the cold case in 2002, they spent two years developing a method to multiply the DNA found at the scene. This scientific breakthrough eventually led to absolute confirmation that Napper was responsible for the crime. He pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Rachel Nickell in 2008. The perpetrator received an additional lifetime sentence of confinement at Broadmoor, where he currently serves out his time.
As reported by the BBC, it was later discovered that he was suffering from severe mental illness, including Asperger’s syndrome. Official apologies were later issued to the families due to massive police errors during the initial investigation.
"The police failed to sufficiently investigate after Napper's mother called police to report that he had confessed to her that he had r**** a woman and, inconceivably, they eliminated Napper from inquiries into the Green Chain r**** because he was over six feet tall,” then-IPCC Commissioner Rachel Cerfontyne said to the BBC.
The documentary provides accounts from individuals who lived through the tragedy, providing a deeper understanding of the case.

Crucially, the series includes Colin Stagg, the innocent man who was wrongly targeted by the police. The interviews collectively emphasize how the real k***** remained free to commit more crimes before his eventual capture. Netflix also released another series simultaneously that shifts the focus away from the crime itself to deeply explore the emotional aftermath. Today, the perpetrator remains securely locked away inside the walls of the Broadmoor high-security psychiatric facility.
