The Bridgerton cast is no stranger to fame, with the Netflix series becoming one of its most popular shows. While the success opened doors to new opportunities and brought the actors plenty of appreciation, fame can also have a darker and more unsettling side when admiration crosses personal boundaries. And Bridgerton actress Golda Rosheuvel knows a thing or two about it.
The actress recently recalled a frightening encounter with fans while on vacation and also opened up about how such experiences have changed the way she travels.
Golda Rosheuvel revealed by chased by fans
Much like Queen Charlotte, who has a massive following among the ton, the actress who plays her, Golda Rosheuvel, is also adored by fans. However, during her appearance on Dinner’s On Me with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Rosheuvel revealed that her fame has also caused her anxiety while traveling, as she sometimes worries about being recognised and followed. She recalled one particularly frightening incident in Barcelona when she was chased by a group of young female fans.
"We were chased in Barcelona by a few girls," she said. "And that was really weird and scary and, you know, we were on holiday. It was just bizarre."

Rosheuvel also recalled on the podcast that the possibility of being recognized while traveling has changed the way she travels and now spends more to feel safe. She also expressed gratitude that she is in a position to afford those extra expenses, such as spending $400 on a trip that could have previously cost her just $50. Ferguson, who is best known for his role in Modern Family, also shared that he had a similar experience during the show’s early years, when he was not yet earning as much as he does today.
Rosheuvel and Ferguson are not alone, as many celebrities have spoken about similar concerns over their safety and privacy. Their experiences tell of the unexpected downside of fame and their efforts to keep themselves and their families safe. Fortunately, both shows are massive hits, and that gave them more opportunities.
While Modern Family may have wrapped up, Bridgerton continues to run, with fans already eager to find out when they can expect the show's next season.
