With filming for the conclusive chapter of the show now wrapped, the unexpected casting has sparked fresh speculation among fans. Does it hint at one last surprise in Geralt’s journey? While the show has kept most details under wraps, this quiet reveal suggests that the Continent may still have a few hidden corners left to explore before the curtains fall.

According to Redanian Intelligence, Andy Apollo, known for Black Mirror and The Diplomat, has been cast as Reynart de Bois-Fresnes in The Witcher and will be introduced somewhere in the middle of the final season, that is, season 5 of the show. For those familiar with Andrzej Sapkowski’s books that serve as the source material for the Netflix series, it is no new knowledge that the character is a Toussaint knight who, alongside his fellow soldiers, saves Geralt and his Hansa from an ambush and then helps arrange food and shelter for them. This act of kindness leads Geralt and Reynart to become friends later on.

While the aforementioned outlet could not confirm how much of the book’s premise will be followed in the final season of The Witcher, it did, nevertheless, mention how the casting almost finalizes Toussaint — the sunniest side of the Continent — finally coming alive on screen. This new update has fans exhilarated; however, it has also left a few confused as they wonder why a potential plot for The Witcher season 5 is making headlines even though season 4 of the show has not been released yet.

The Witcher Season 5 chatter rises early not by co-incidence but by design

The reason why The Witcher season 5 is making buzz before season 4’s release is that both seasons were shot back-to-back for the convenience of production as well as viewers. The crew, according to Redanian Intelligence, travelled to South Africa earlier this year, where it shot scenes around Yennefer, Triss, Ciri, Sigdrifa, and more. It is there that the team could have captured a few shots for Toussaint, with the rest being filmed in the studio.

As for The Witcher season 4’s release, which reportedly sees the return of the creative mind behind two of Henry Cavill’s most iconic episodes, no date has been finalized yet, with the installment currently being in post-production. That said, the impending arrival of season 4 does not reduce the anticipation for season 5, especially now amid speculation about Toussaint making the cut.
