'Stranger Things’ Matthew Modine Feels "Pleasure" as He Takes Papa to 'The Simpsons'

Matthew Modine, best known to Stranger Things loyalists as the chilling Dr Martin Brenner and Eleven’s papa, is bringing his dark persona to a whole new world — the very vibrant Springfield. The acclaimed actor, who has portrayed the morally ambiguous scientist across several seasons of the Netflix hit, is set to lend his voice to The Simpsons. Modine expressed his delight over the crossover via a social media post recently.
Calling the experience of blending his eerie Stranger Things energy with The Simpsons’ timeless humor a “pleasure,” Matthew Modine sent a special thank you to a significant figure attached to the latter show.

Matthew Modine has officially taken Papa from Hawkins to Springfield — and he is loving every second of it. The Stranger Things star joins The Simpsons as Dr. Leonard Stern, a state psychologist who is called in to assess Bart’s behavior in the episode Bad Boys… For Life. Modine, taking to X to address the same, shared it was a “pleasure” collaborating with longtime The Simpsons writer and executive producer Al Jean on the animated classic.
The episode that has Matthew Modine feeling grateful on X, notably, will air on Sunday, November 2, at 8 pm ET/PT on FOX. Written by Al Jean, it flashes back to a time when Bart and Homer’s clashes were at their peak. When Marge could not handle their chaos, she turned to Dr Leonard Stern. At first sympathetic, Stern changed his tune after seeing Bart’s antics, calling him a “psycho.” Modine’s The Simpsons gig, meanwhile, comes in the same month as the Stranger Things season 5, which revealed its official trailer only a short while ago.
A little over 2 and a half minutes long, the Stranger Things 5 trailer shows Eleven and her crew uniting for one last time against Vecna.
Stranger Things 5 trailer explored
Netflix released the official trailer for Stranger Things 5 on October 30, a day after it leaked online, causing havoc. The footage teased an epic showdown in Hawkins. It showed Vecna’s return and Eleven preparing for the ultimate battle alongside Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will. With Hawkins under lockdown and chaos spreading, the stakes have never been higher. The final season unfolds in three parts: volume 1 drops on November 26, volume 2 on December 25, and the finale arrives on December 31, 2025.
