Seeking to inhabit the complex psyche of his iconic part, he decided to isolate himself from the outside world. 

This deliberate seclusion, according to him, allowed him to dive deep into the nuances of his character and fully commit to the haunting journey ahead.

Jacob Elordi spoke to Tudum for his cover story recently, where he revealed about his role as the Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. The Euphoria star said he had about four weeks to really prepare for production, a period during which he left the world behind. “You have to close all the doors to your house emotionally,” Elordi explained, adding that actors often have to close their ears and eyes off and change the way they see things when readying themselves for a part.

In his Tudum chat, Elordi added that even ordinary daily tasks, such as eating and showering, had to take on a new life to help him shift into the character. According to him, this intense focus and isolation were necessary to fully inhabit the Creature, allowing him to bring a completely transformed mindset and presence to the part on screen. Elordi, meanwhile, not only spoke about the mental preparation for his character, set to debut later this week, but also addressed how he physically transformed into Mary Shelley’s celebrated tragic creation.

Jacob Elordi had only praises to shower on Mike Hill, the designer of the Creature for Frankenstein. 

Jacob Elordi praised Mike Hill as a genius, saying he loves Frankenstein as much as Guillermo does and that he wanted to be calm and respectful of Hill’s process. He called Hill’s original makeup drawings breathtaking, capturing the anatomy of a recomposed human being. For the film, Elordi’s transformation notably involved 42 prosthetic pieces and hours in the makeup chair daily. Hill’s design gives the Creature a lean, scar‑marked, hauntingly human look, emphasizing emotion rather than traditional monster tropes.
