As of late 2025 and early 2026, The Legend of Korra has exited Netflix to find a permanent residence within the Paramount+ library. This shift ensures that Paramount+ remains the primary streaming destination for the entire Avatar franchise.

For those who prefer ownership, digital purchase options remain available through Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and Apple TV. The departure from Netflix occurred because Paramount Global is prioritizing exclusivity for its flagship Nickelodeon properties.

After joining the library in August 2020, Netflix lost seasons one through four of The Legend of Korra on April 16, 2025. While the series departed that platform, its availability on Paramount+ remained entirely unaffected by the licensing expiration.

Although Netflix previously held the rights, those licenses have concluded, allowing Paramount to consolidate its animated universe. One may still catch occasional reruns on linear Nickelodeon channels, but the streaming future is now firmly tied to the mountain logo.

Netflix retains Avatar: The Last Airbender amidst new projects

While Korra has moved on, Netflix successfully negotiated a critical extension to keep Avatar: The Last Airbender on the platform until April 2027. This two-year renewal ensures that the animated classic remains available to stream alongside its high-budget live-action counterpart.

The timing of this deal is essential as the live-action adaptation prepares for a massive 2026 return. Production of the second season is currently nearing completion, with additional filming scheduled to continue through the summer to meet a November wrap date.
