Although not from the world of martial arts legends like Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, and Jackie Chan, the fluffy and clumsy panda Po is also much adored. The 2008 animated film Kung Fu Panda, which follows the adventures of the unlikely martial artist, launched a successful franchise with fun and action-packed sequels. The second film arrived in 2011, followed by the third in 2016, and a fourth movie came much later in 2024.

While the Kung Fu Panda films enjoyed massive success in theaters, are they now available on streaming platforms like Netflix?

Unfortunately, the Kung Fu Panda movies are no longer available on Netflix. However, there is still hope that they may return to the streaming platform in the future. But until then, viewers can still stream all four movies available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video.

They are also available for streaming on Peacock, while only the second film can be found on HBO Max. Even though the movies are not currently on Netflix, there is still something for fans to enjoy. Netflix has the animated series Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, which follows the adventures of Po.

The show ran for three seasons from 2022 to 2023. While it exists in the same universe and features a few familiar characters, the storyline is new and introduces several fresh faces. So, even those who have yet to watch the movies can watch the series.

With both the movies and series available across different platforms, there is also a curiosity about when a fifth Kung Fu Panda film might arrive.

Fate of the 5th Kung Fu Panda movie

As of now, a fifth Kung Fu Panda movie has neither been released nor officially confirmed. However, considering the immense success of Kung Fu Panda 4, which grossed $543.9 million worldwide, there is hope that DreamWorks Animation may look to greenlight another installment. Even so, if the film does move forward, it is unlikely to be released before 2027.

Director Mike Mitchell, in an interview with ComicBook, expressed his wish for the story to continue. At the same time, he also revealed that each film typically takes at least three years to complete. So, a fifth movie is still far from getting a release next year.

“The technology does move ahead, but somehow these things always take three years to make. I don't know why that is. I think it's because it's actually harder to make a sequel because we have to make it now five times better than the first one,” he said.  This expected gap makes it the perfect time to revisit the movies and catch up on the series.
