Hollywood rumors rarely arrive quietly, and Meghan Markle’s alleged detour into Guy Ritchie’s criminal playground has been anything but. The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly in talks for a role written for her in Season 3 of Netflix’s The Gentlemen, with reports ranging from preliminary discussions to “advanced” negotiations. Then came claims that the offer was withdrawn amid British backlash, while other sources insisted the role never existed at all.
Now, Netflix has finally addressed the swirling speculation, although its response reveals very little.
Netflix finally responds to Meghan Markle's The Gentleman rumors
Meghan Markle’s rumored The Gentlemen cameo has gone from casting whisper to delicious Netflix mystery. Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Wednesday, Netflix’s UK scripted chief Manda Levin was asked whether Markle would appear in Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy. The answer that followed did little to settle the increasingly tangled speculation.
“All bets are off,” Manda Levin replied, offering no further explanation on stage. The cryptic response stopped short of confirming Markle’s involvement, but it also avoided the clean denial many expected. That has left the door ajar for the Suits actress, particularly as reports continue to disagree over whether negotiations ever progressed.

The mystery is especially intriguing given Markle and Prince Harry’s continuing relationship with Netflix. Their original multi-year arrangement has since shifted into a first-look deal, while Netflix executives have maintained that projects through Archewell Productions remain in development. With Harry & Meghan and With Love, Meghan already under the streamer’s banner, this latest tease feels particularly timely.
Markle may have made it to the UK, but whether she will make it onto The Gentlemen remains anyone’s guess. Should she land the role, however, her potential castmates are no mystery.
Meghan Markle's potential The Gentlemen castmates
If Meghan Markle does step into Season 3 of Netflix’s The Gentlemen, she will find herself among a decidedly formidable ensemble led by Theo James, who returns as aristocratic heir Eddie Horniman. Kaya Scodelario is also back as the calculating Susie Glass, alongside Ray Winstone as her incarcerated crime-boss father, Bobby Glass, keeping the criminal dynasty very much alive.

The returning ensemble also includes Daniel Ings as Eddie’s troubled brother Freddy Horniman, Joely Richardson as their mother Lady Sabrina Horniman, and Vinnie Jones as loyal groundskeeper Geoff Seacombe. Giancarlo Esposito joins the mix as wealthy American buyer Stanley Johnston, while Hugh Bonneville and Joshua McGuire also feature in the expanded cast. If Markle joins them, the rumored role could make her next television chapter considerably more intriguing.
