Alexandra Daddario has gone from working at a New York bar to becoming one of the most recognizable names in Hollywood, starring in The White Lotus, San Andreas, and True Detective. But none of that trajectory would have existed without her pivotal break, one that happened thanks to a fantasy franchise that bridged the Harry Potter and Hunger Games eras.
That particular role, which she played in her early through late 20s, launched her into the spotlight, giving her the first major foothold in a blockbuster franchise and setting the stage for everything that followed.
And now, years later, that very franchise is finding a powerful new lease on life on streaming.

Percy Jackson movies surge on Netflix
Since the two Percy Jackson movies were added to Netflix earlier this month, they have surged to the top of the platform’s charts. According to FlixPatrol, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief currently ranks as the No. 1 kids movie in the United States and No. 2 overall. Meanwhile, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters sits close behind, holding the No. 2 spot among kids' titles and No. 4 across all films.
This resurgence reflects a mix of nostalgia and renewed interest sparked by the Disney+ reboot Percy Jackson and the Olympians. In the series, Leah Jeffries steps into the role of Annabeth, a portrayal that has received support from Daddario herself. The crossover appeal between the old and new adaptations is clearly drawing both longtime fans and first-time viewers.
Originally directed by Chris Columbus and Thor Freudenthal, the films arrived during Hollywood’s push to replicate the success of major young adult fantasy franchises. While reviews were mixed, the movies found a sizable audience and helped establish Daddario as a rising talent. In hindsight, their cultural footprint appears stronger than ever, especially as they continue to find new life on streaming platforms.
As the past finds renewed relevance, the future of the franchise is moving faster than expected.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 set for faster return on Disney+
Disney+ is accelerating the rollout of Percy Jackson and the Olympians by bringing Season 3 sooner than many anticipated. The upcoming season is scheduled to arrive later in 2026, only months after Season 2 concludes. This approach helps maintain continuity while ensuring the young cast remains aligned with their characters’ ages.

Season 3 will adapt The Titan’s Curse, marking the first time this storyline has been brought to the screen. The narrative follows Percy, Grover, and Tyson as they attempt to rescue Annabeth and the goddess Artemis. Along the way, they confront threats like the Manticore and Dr. Thorn, building toward a larger clash with the Titan Atlas.
The season is also expected to include several iconic moments from the books. Among them is the powerful sequence where Percy and Annabeth each bear the weight of the sky. While an exact release date, apart from the December 2026 window, has not yet been confirmed, the shorter gap between seasons signals a strong commitment to the franchise that introduced Alexandra Daddario from Disney+.
