A new Hollywood era will take the spotlight this year as David Fincher’s new movie heads to IMAX theaters before making its debut on Netflix. It is a major first for the streaming giant, which is offering one of its films an exclusive theatrical release ahead of its streaming premiere. However, Netflix’s growing effort to strengthen its connection with theaters has already been evident through the theatrical releases of K-pop Demon Hunters and the finale of Stranger Things.

The latest addition to this lineup is the upcoming film starring Brad Pitt, which will feature on the big screen for a brief time.

Brad Pitt is set to reprise his role as Cliff Booth in the upcoming film, unofficially titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth. As announced by Netflix, the movie will receive a special theatrical treatment with an exclusive two-week IMAX run beginning on November 25, 2026, as per Variety. The film will take over the Thanksgiving release slot originally planned for director Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, which has now been delayed to 2027.

The movie will later premiere on Netflix on December 23, 2026. It serves as a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. While David Fincher is directing the project, the script has been written by Tarantino himself.
