Night City has never been short on bad decisions, broken bodies, and spectacularly unhappy endings, but Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 gives fans another reason to return. Arriving on Netflix on October 20, 2026, the 10-episode follow-up jumps three years ahead, trading David Martinez’s lonely tragedy for an ensemble led by young filmmaker Roman Carax, revenge-driven netrunner D, and chrome-heavy Talia. Studio Trigger brings the carnage, shadows, and neon in style, while a bittersweet finale leaves a sliver of hope amid the wreckage.

For those already craving another trip into Night City, showrunner Bartosz Sztybor has offered a tantalizing reason not to give up on Season 3 just yet.

The gates to Night City may not be shut for good just yet, but getting another season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will take more than fan demand. Showrunner Bartosz Sztybor has addressed the possibility of a third installment, suggesting that the franchise still has plenty of stories to explore. However, returning to Netflix will depend on whether the creative team finds a story worth telling.

“There’s a lot of stories to tell in Night City and beyond, so you never know," he said.

That sounds promising, but Sztybor is not handing fans a guaranteed return ticket to the neon-lit dystopia. As he explained, both his team and CD Projekt RED believe another installment must have the right creative vision behind it. A familiar setting and beloved franchise are not enough to justify another run without a story that feels genuinely special.

In the interview with ComicBook, Sztybor elaborated on the creative standards that would need to be met before another season could happen. The showrunner stressed that the right story must come together with a director, artist, or studio capable of bringing a distinctive voice to the project. Unless those elements align, the team may prefer to leave Edgerunners as a two-season story rather than risk compromising its quality.

With Netflix expanding its anime roster with Dragon Ball Super: Beerus and these potential storylines, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 3 might not be such a pipe dream after all.

The plotlines bring Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 3 to life

Although Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 3 remains unconfirmed, Night City has enough unfinished business to fuel another electrifying chapter. The Capri neurochip could draw a new crew into a dangerous battle involving rogue artificial intelligence and corporate espionage. At the same time, Roman Carax and Talia could return in a time jump that explores grief, revenge, and the devastating cost of cybernetic augmentation.

Beyond those possibilities, the franchise could venture into the Badlands and the Free States, following nomads struggling beyond the reach of Night City’s corporate giants. Another storyline could examine discarded corporate test subjects, rogue Trauma Team paramedics, or defectors exposing sinister research operations. With Bartosz Sztybor teasing stories beyond Night City, these narrative possibilities give Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 3 several ways to become reality.
