That is what happens in Netflix's upcoming anime, Thunder 3. Leading Netflix's exciting July anime lineup alongside Sparks of Tomorrow, Thunder 3 is already turning heads. Better yet, the anime will land exclusively on Netflix before making its debut in Japan, allowing Netflix viewers to get the first dibs.

Thunder 3 follows three inseparable childhood friends, Pyontaro, Tsubame, and Hiroshi, known as the 'Small 3.' But their ordinary lives are shattered when Pyontaro's cheerful younger sister, Futaba, suddenly disappears. This urges the trio, determined to bring her home, to set out on a desperate search that quickly grows into an extraordinary adventure. 

As they chase clues and overcome challenges, they find themselves venturing far beyond the world they know. Produced by Fuji TV, the animated series is based on a manga of the same name by Yuki Ikeda. The manga was serialized in Monthly Shōnen Magazine by Kodansha.

In their journey, the three might stumble upon some expected guests, too. This is a thrilling and quite unexpected sci-fi animated series. Apart from an adventure and fun-filled story, the series also stars a talented group of voice actors for the characters.

Honoka Mitsubachi as Futaba: Honoka Mitsubachi has previously worked in Digimon Beatbreak.

Eri Akiyama as Hiroshi: Eri Akiyama has previously voiced the character Keigo Takami in My Hero Academia.

Natsumi Kawaida as Tsubame: She previously worked on The Summer Hikaru Died.

Sayumi Suzushiro as Pyontarou: Sayumi Suzushiro is well known for lending her voice to Kei Shirogane in the series Love is War. She has been part of several other animated shows.

These are the names of the cast members for the show revealed so far. But now that Netflix has already revealed the cast names and shared a glimpse into the adventure in the series, what remains is when Thunder 3 will premiere.

Thunder 3 is set to land on Netflix exclusively on July 8, 2026, for its global fans. The animated series will soon make its debut in Japan on July 9, 2026. The adventure will also not be one that will end in a single sitting, as new episodes will arrive every Wednesday to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats.
