Netflix has scheduled the global premiere of the Dandelion anime series for April 2026. While a specific day remains unconfirmed, the production is moving forward rapidly under the guidance of the animation studio NAZ, as reported by What’s on Netflix.
Hideaki Sorachi originally released this story as a standalone one-shot in Weekly Shonen Jump back in 2002. Unlike the original print version, which concluded in a single chapter, the Netflix adaptation expands the narrative into a full-length seven-episode limited series.
Hideaki Sorachi mentioned that he is embarrassed about his debut novel and does not reread it. He noted that Netflix seems to lack delicacy for digging it up, yet he views this as an opportunity to revisit those characters after two decades.
“But I might as well take this opportunity to go and see those guys for the first time in 20 years” Hideaki Sorachi stated, as per What's on Netflix.
The narrative focuses on a specialized department tasked with resolving the lingering regrets of wandering spirits.
Bureaucracy and beyond- The plot and voice talent of Dandelion
The story of Dandelion revolves around the Japan Angel Federation Sendoff Department, a supernatural agency that helps souls pass peacefully into the afterlife. The Dandelion division distinguishes itself by taking a personal approach to the regrets of earthbound spirits rather than rushing the process.
Tetsuo Tanba and Misaki Kurogane serve as the central agents of the department who navigate various spiritual crises, and Tanba is characterized by his intimidating appearance and hidden kindness, while Kurogane acts as a deceptive yet formidable partner.
Leading voice talent for Dandelion:
Chikahiro Kobayashi voices the protagonist Tetsuo Tanba, an agent with a frightening exterior but a gentle heart.
Megumi Han lends her voice to Misaki Kurogane, the deceptive and powerful partner working within the spirit division.
Yūki Hayashi serves as the music composer, bringing his signature musical style to the supernatural production.

Daisuke Mataga leads the project as Director, collaborating with Character Designer Ai Asari to modernize the original art.
This ambitious expansion of Hideaki Sorachi's earliest work promises to blend supernatural bureaucracy with the heartfelt humor that defined an entire generation of anime fans and Netflix's anime line-up.
