Netflix is adding another major anime title to its lineup with Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, an enhanced version of the beloved Dragon Ball Super anime. The new series brings Goku and his allies back to one of their most memorable battles, this time with newly added and redrawn footage, renewed visuals, updated sound, and a reconstructed narrative. Rather than simply being a standard remaster, the project has been rebuilt as an “ENHANCED” edition designed to give familiar events a fresh presentation.
Here’s everything to know about the upcoming anime, from its story and returning voice cast to its Netflix release date.
What is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus about?
Several years have passed since Goku and his friends defeated Majin Buu, and Earth has finally entered a period of peace. That peace doesn't last for long, however, when Beerus, the God of Destruction, awakens from a long sleep.
After hearing rumors about a Saiyan who defeated Frieza, Beerus sets his sights on Goku and travels to Earth in search of a worthy opponent. But with Beerus possessing enough power to destroy entire planets, his arrival quickly turns into a threat to the entire world.

The story follows Goku and his allies as they face Beerus, eventually leading to the battle between the God of Destruction and Super Saiyan God Goku. The enhanced edition will also move beyond the Beerus storyline into the Resurrection F and Universe 6 arcs.
What makes this version different is the amount of work that has gone into reshaping the original anime. Toei Animation says the series features newly added cuts, redrawn scenes, renewed visuals, newly recorded dubbing with additional score and sound effects, and a reconstructed story.
Who is in the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus cast?
The new series brings back several familiar Japanese voice actors from the Dragon Ball universe. Masako Nozawa returns as Son Goku, while Ryo Horikawa voices Vegeta and Toshio Furukawa returns as Piccolo.
Koichi Yamadera voices Beerus, the God of Destruction at the center of the story, while Masakazu Morita voices Whis.
Behind the scenes, Tadayoshi Yamamuro serves as the animation character designer and general animation director, with Matsuto Seya handling composition and direction. Akira Toriyama is credited with the original work, story, and character design, while Norihito Sumitomo handles the music.
The English-dub cast also includes familiar franchise voices, including Sean Schemmel as Goku, Christopher Sabat as Vegeta and Piccolo, Jason Douglas as Beerus, Ian Sinclair as Whis, and Monica Rial as Bulma. Douglas, Sinclair, and Rial are also appearing at the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus panel at New York Comic Con 2026.
When is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus coming to Netflix?
Netflix has confirmed that the anime will arrive on October 17, 2026. On the other hand, in Japan, it premieres on October 11, 2026, with the first episode receiving an advance screening at New York Comic Con on October 8.
