Nothing makes audiences fall in love quite like a story that stomps on their hearts before the credits roll. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners borrowed the neon playground of Cyberpunk 2077, then somehow outshone it with Studio Trigger's breathtaking spectacle and a romance destined for disaster. By the end, the main character, David Martinez, died smiling and viewers were left clutching emotional damage instead of closure.

Almost four years after the finale, Netflix has finally offered some relief, confirming a sequel series that sends audiences back to Night City once more.

Netflix and CD Projekt Red have officially reopened the gates to Night City, confirming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 for a Fall 2026 release. The new 10-episode series sequel is boldly charting a fresh course instead of revisiting familiar faces. With an entirely new cast, the series proves that Night City never runs out of people willing to gamble everything.

Do not expect a comforting victory lap. The creative team has described the new installment as a raw tale of redemption and revenge, teasing an even darker emotional journey. Leading the charge is D, a gifted Netrunner chasing vengeance, alongside veteran Edgerunner Weak Kingsley, truth-seeking filmmaker Roman Carax, and the battle-scarred Talia Yang.

Behind the scenes, familiar passion meets fresh direction. Kai Ikarashi, whose Girl on Fire episode became a standout from the first season, steps into the director's chair. Returning story architect Bartosz Sztybor joins scriptwriter Masahiko Otsuka and character designer Ichigo Kanno, ensuring the franchise keeps its signature blend of stylish brutality and emotional devastation.

As fans wonder whether Studio Trigger will recreate Night City's signature carnage, they are probably wondering even more if their favorite characters will make a comeback.

Will fans get to see their Cyberpunk: Edgerunners favorites again?

Fans hoping David Martinez somehow cheated death should prepare for disappointment. The creators have made it crystal clear that his journey ended exactly where it was meant to, and the teaser wastes no time reminding everyone that David is dead but Night City lives on. Rebecca, Maine, Dorio, Kiwi, and Pilar are equally gone, leaving their stories firmly closed.

That does not mean every familiar face has vanished into the neon skyline. Lucy remains alive after reaching the moon, while Falco continues working the streets of Night City, making either character a plausible cameo. Even legends such as Adam Smasher, Rogue, or Wakako could briefly cross paths with the new crew, proving that although Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is embracing fresh faces, Night City never truly forgets its icons.
