Netflix has continued to expand its footprint in the anime space in recent years. A glimpse of that dedication was seen at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival back in June this year, which brought an exciting look at the upcoming anime slate for the streaming giant. Now, Netflix has continued that push at Anime NYC as it revealed a lineup spanning returning favorites, new adaptations, and original projects.

From new trailers, premiere dates, to first looks at several highly anticipated titles, it is a fascinating look at what is ahead for the streaming giant.

The first look at Netflix’s anime slate at Anime NYC has been revealed, and it is impressively stacked. The lineup featured the much-anticipated steampunk sci-fi western series Bass X Machina, which is set for release in November 2026. Several awe-inspiring stills from the anime, as well as a brief trailer, were also revealed at the event. 

  Now, there is more for anime fans on the platform, with the hit anime series Blue Samurai returning for a new season. The story of Blue Samurai will continue with a second season, which is expected to arrive in January 2027. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also returning for Season 2, which is set to premiere in October this year.   

Another much-anticipated release is Fool Night, the adaptation of Kasumi Yasuda’s manga of the same name. It is set to arrive in November this year. One of Netflix’s biggest and most-streamed anime hits, Sakamoto Days, is also returning for Season 2. The lineup further revealed first looks at LEGO One Piece and the highly anticipated adaptation The One Piece.

With major titles arriving toward the end of this year and into early 2027, Netflix is clearly looking to strengthen its position in the anime world. It already holds an impressive rank among its competitors.

In April 2026, GEM Partners’ Anime Global White Paper 2026 reported that Netflix ranked as the No. 1 streaming destination for anime series across 15 countries, based on a survey of 15,000 people. The markets included Japan, China, India, South Korea, the U.S., the UK, Germany, France, and Brazil, which are some of the biggest anime markets around the world. Netflix has also reported that its anime viewership has tripled over the past few years. 

While both subtitled and dubbed anime have found an audience, dubbed titles have been reportedly more popular. The streaming giant has said that nearly half of its viewers watch anime, which explains how much the genre has become a crucial part of its global offering. And Netflix appears to be leaning into that demand, ramping up its anime strategy and expanding its slate with more high-profile titles.
