In the last couple of years, Netflix has seemed extremely intent on expanding its anime library to target an evolving global audience that is swiftly gravitating towards anime now. Whether it is collaborating with big studios like MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen) or producing originals like Dandelion, produced by Studio NAZ, Love Through a Prism, Devil May Cry, etc., the streaming giant is doing its best to bring more and more anime lovers to the platform. 

Continuing with its efforts to add more anime titles, Netflix is bringing a new anime series, Sparks of Tomorrow, to the platform this summer. 

 Sparks of Tomorrow is an intriguing new anime joining the 2026 slate of anime releases on Netflix. The anime produced by Kyoto Animation (KyoAni) is set to debut on Netflix on July 5, 2026. The anime adaptation of Hiro Yuki's 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku light novel was originally announced back in October 2025 during Kyoto Animation Thanks Event. 

It is reasonable to have extremely high expectations for Sparks of Tomorrow, given KyoAni's illustrious run in anime with Violet Evergarden, K-ON!, A Silent Voice, Hyouka, etc. The light novel has also been highly praised by critics, and with frequent collaborator Minoru Ōta at the helm of the upcoming Japanese Netflix series, it is poised to be a success.

Voice actors for Kihachi Sakamoto and Inako Momokawa, the primary pair in the plot, are currently featured on the official English website of Sparks of Tomorrow. Inako is portrayed by Sora Amamiya (Tokyo Ghoul, KonoSuba, Akame ga Kill, The Seven Deadly Sins), and Kihachi is portrayed by Yuuma Uchida (Grand Blue, Banana Fish, Jujutsu Kaisen, Fruits Basket).  

Koki Uchiyama voices Yosuke Mizoe, a talented engineer obsessed with the Electrical Catalog, and Daisuke Ono voices Seiroku Sakamoto, a proponent of the 'Age of Electricity'. More cast information may be released in the near future.

Since his brother's passing dashed their dream of an 'Age of Electricity,' the boy has become pessimistic. On the other hand, devoted to her faith, the girl has learnt to carefully conceal her grief for her late mother as well as her own aspirations. The two set out to discover the secrets of the enigmatic 20th-century Electrical Catalog, which seems to be the key to everything they had long desired.

It is a fresh story in an exciting new world - a world of mysteries and spirations. This makes the anime series something to look forward to.
