Bridgerton has treated the marriage mart like a relay, passing the central love story from one sibling to the next while quietly planting seeds for whoever comes after. With Season 5 now in production and Francesca and Michaela preparing to take center stage, the Ton is already looking beyond the next social season.

And the latest writing-room update has brought Eloise firmly back into that conversation. The interesting part is not simply that another season is taking shape. It is which sibling appears to be next in line, and whether the show is already beginning to sketch the romance fans have been waiting years to see.

A new update from the Bridgerton writers’ room has provided the clearest indication yet that Eloise Bridgerton’s story is being developed for Season 6. Writers’ assistant Fiona Kida revealed in a now-deleted TikTok video that work has begun on the sixth season, with the team specifically referring to Eloise’s next chapter while revisiting the source material.

Kida explained that the writers were rereading Julia Quinn’s books and looking back at where the characters had been left.

That makes the update particularly notable because Netflix has confirmed that Season 6 is on the way, but has not formally announced its lead romance. In the video, now posted on X by one of the writing assistant's followers, Kida revealed that she has been studying To Sir Phillip, With Love, the fifth novel in Quinn’s Bridgerton series, compiling favorite lines, moments and set pieces that could be useful to the writers.

The work is still in the creative development stage, but it places Eloise’s book firmly on the writers’ table.

There is also an intriguing distinction between what is confirmed and what is being inferred. Netflix has confirmed Season 6, but the streamer has not yet officially named Eloise as its lead.

Eloise’s next chapter could take the show somewhere very different

If Season 6 does follow To Sir Phillip, With Love, the tonal shift could be substantial. Eloise has spent much of Bridgerton resisting the conventional machinery of the marriage mart, preferring books, political arguments and long conversations to the polished choreography of balls and courtship. Her eventual story in Quinn’s novel turns that resistance into something far more personal.

The novel follows Eloise as her correspondence with Sir Phillip Crane develops after the death of Marina Thompson. Their letters eventually lead Eloise away from the familiar Bridgerton household and toward Phillip’s estate in Gloucestershire, where she encounters not only the reserved widower but also his two unruly children. Chris Fulton previously played Phillip in the Netflix series, although his return for Season 6 has not been officially confirmed.

The adaptation could therefore preserve the bones of Quinn’s story while making its own choices, as the series has done repeatedly with its source material. Netflix confirms that Francesca and Michaela will lead Season 5, which is scheduled for 2027.

For now, Eloise remains one step ahead of the audience, just as she has so often been in the series itself.
