Zayn Malik has been an international heartthrob since his early days in One Direction for all the right reasons. Loved for his serene voice that has enchanted the audience for many years now, his contributions towards social causes have also earned him in the good book of fans. And once again, his move of extending support to the LGBTQ+ community for one of the biggest issues faced by them is getting him applause.

A few days ago, on June 2nd, Zayn Malik became a part of Hollywood celebrities who signed The Trevor Project’s open letter to protect federal funding for LGBTQ+ youth suicide prevention, as confirmed on their official website. The project is a suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for young people of the LGBTQ+ community.  

In the open letter, The Trevor Project has made a plea with the government to protect federal funding of around $50 million for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s LGBTQ+ Youth Specialized Services. With his support, Malik has joined big names from the industry like Bella Ramsey, Cara Delevingne, Paris Hilton, and fellow musicians Ariana Grande, Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter, and numerous others.

Supporting the LGBTQ+ has always held a special place in Zayn Malik’s heart, who has been vocal about the cause in the past.

The breakout hit with One Direction provided Zayn Malik with the platform and the opportunities to make a positive influence, and the singer has used it wisely to support the LGBTQ community. A decade ago, during a band interview with the London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard, Malik suggested the struggling youth "just be yourself." He also added not to"be afraid to be the person that you are." His statement earned him much love back in the day, and now him signing the open letter has once again made the fans praise him.

Fans who are just as progressive and aware like him praised him highly for his social acknowledgements.

Zayn Malik has never been the one to hold back on lending his voice to the causes he feels are just. He recently wrapped up his much-anticipated tour, Stairway to the Sky Tour, after the sudden and tragic death of his bandmate, Liam Payne, something he deeply mourned. And through contributions like these, he uses his platform right, and his fans sure do treasure him for that.
