Ye Once Revealed the Sad Reason Behind North West and Blue Ivy’s Distance Between Them

Ye, formerly Kanye West and Jay-Z’s relationship, could easily birth a trajectory of back-and-forth reruns of reconciliations given their rocky state of acquaintance over the past few years. Despite having known each other since the 90s when the Atlanta rapper was recruited to produce tracks for Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records, their glory days of creative partnership rest as a distant memory for now. Unfortunately, the distance is not limited to the hip-hop stars but has become long contagious for the next generation with a growing divide between North and Blue Ivy, who barely spend time together.

The 'Donda' rapper previously acknowledged the reasons behind North and Ivy's strained relationship years ago.

In 2016, Ye divulged an enlightening conversation with the crowd during a Seattle concert for the Saint Pablo tour, revealing the reasons why his daughter, North West, and Jay Z’s daughter, Blue Ivy do not play together despite their longstanding friendship over decades. Attributing it to residual tensions from their confrontations, Ye first blamed the streaming wars between Tidal and Apple Music for the pair’s tension and how it permeated into the lives of their children, damaging their friendship in return.

The 'Heartless' rapper cited another reason for his fury towards Jay Z. In the same year, Ye's ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, was involved in a tragic incident where she was robbed at gunpoint. This incident also became a point of contention between the artists over time. Ye expressed disappointment that Jay Z only called to check on them but did not visit them in person, which felt like a deviation from their brotherhood bond.

Ye and Jay Z’s professional alliance gave birth to the golden days of hip-hop with countless chart toppers and right now, their next generation has been caught up in similar crossroads. Fate has ridiculous ways to bring life full circle and with Disney’s recent announcement, the quality has borne visual testament. Disney declared that North and Blue Ivy have signed up for future Lion King projects.

Blue Ivy is set to voice Kiara as a cast member of the live-action prequel Mufasa: The Lion King as per their announcement on April 29 while North was declared to perform live in Lion King’s 30th anniversary concert at the Hollywood Bowl, which was held this Friday and Saturday. Hence, despite the parental-driven distance, North and Blue Ivy might be confronting each other purely because of business.
