Like many other artists from the rap game, Jacques Bermon Webster II, better known as Travis Scott, had a modest start to his musical career. It all began with a few names of inspiration that made Scott scribble his last pages, attempting his touch at rhyme mastering before he could become one of the leading rappers in the industry. But years later, a college essay by Scott recently resurfaced, making fans take a trip down the lane with a peek at his humble beginnings.

As children, the most creative hours often came from writing essays or letters. Many fans might have thought they were alone in pouring their hearts out to inspirational figures who might never read their words. However, Scott stood out as a people person, with his college essays resonating with many. One such essay, titled, Good Music from 2009, discussed artists like Ye (formerly Kanye West), Big Sean, and Kid Cudi.

Scott wrote about how rappers Big Sean and Kid Cudi may have had similar lifestyles but the messages conveyed through music were vehemently opposite. However, a point of indifference that made them strut the road to success was their ability to “step to the famous Kanye West”. He acknowledged that despite their belonging to the same genre, they remain distinct, but what brings them together is the concept of good music.

If the essay had a way to track the number of reads, it might have already surpassed a hefty volume of credits since when it resurfaced, fans were largely convinced that if Scott had not made a name for himself in mainstream hip-hop, he "would’ve been cooked" by now.

There is no greater sense of fulfillment than aspiring toward something and achieving it. Similarly, Travis Scott once wrote about major figures in the music scene like Big Sean, Kid Cudi, and Ye. Today, Scott boasts a collaboration list full of these names, including the recent Cactus Jack X Nike campaign with the 'Donda' rapper. Fans, who saw Scott's humble beginnings and vision of the American dream, are convinced he is exactly where he should be.

Many fans felt as if they had witnessed a dream come true, while others were too focused on the grammatical errors in his essay, putting themselves in the shoes of English teachers as if the bygone days of torture were not enough.

This divided fans into two camps: those overly concerned with grammar and those who mocked this concern. Regardless, fans were very impressed with Scott's journey from his early days to his current success, as the essay was proof of the roads he trod to reach where he was. Believing he fits perfectly into his role, fans thus see Scott's musical triumph not as destiny, but as a path made by the maker of his destiny, which is himself.
