Ye may have begun his days in the music industry with freestyling and producing tracks for local artists, but with his hands held by John Monopoly, his kick-start of album releases began in 2004. Monopoly has famously been known for being West’s manager, but his foot in the music pedigree has far more duties adhered to. Aside from his management duties following their beat-making flare in high school days, Monopoly used to promote shows in Chicago before landing A&R gigs with Violator Management and Jive Records.

The 47-year-old entrepreneur was the person who made Ye cross paths with Jay-Z. Although the Chicago native started working in the record industry in the 1990s, Monopoly stepped out to explore the likes of fashion know-how by launching a brand called Hustle during the after-hours of the decade. Presently, he is also the chief strategy officer for the ca**abis brand known as Village.

Having met Ye at the beginning of his career, John Monopoly did wonders in making him the artist he is today. From managing his contracts to helping him through numerous world tours, Monopoly put his best foot forward for the rapper. In return, West made an extravagant display of generosity by gifting Monopoly a customized matte black $300,000 Lamborghini Urus on his birthday in 2019.

Monopoly took to his Instagram, expressing how he was left spellbound. Reportedly, the Atlanta rapper pulled up at an LA restaurant called Delilah to hand over the luxe 641-hp super-SUV to his manager. Although in the past decade, the relationship between the duo hit a conflict, making the rapper go without a manager for a few years even, with his recent comeback in the musical arena, Monopoly was reinstated to his position. The same was confirmed by a source during a 'Vultures' listening party in LA.
