Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce might be busy planning their highly anticipated wedding, but their guest list drew one of their famous friends' attention. Lately, Kelce's close friend Andrew Santino has been making playful statements about the pop icon, and Swifties have been blowing them up, reading them as subtle digs. Between fact, fiction, and comic license, Santino's jokes peel off the layers of pop culture history written in tears and laughter.

Comedian Andrew Santino joked on the Pardon My Take podcast in September that he does not believe he will be receiving an invite to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's A-list wedding. He joked that Swift is "controlling that guest list"  and that he might not cut. He added, "I'm not on that list," despite being one of Kelce's close pals. His comments ignited conversations online about social boundaries and jokes interpreted as criticism. Despite the controversy, there is no suggestion that Swift was offended or that any tears were shed. But he did almost make Swift cry once.

Santino and Swift go way back to a 2012 episode of the notorious MTV show Punk'd. In the episode, Santino established an elaborate prank involving Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, where she was tricked into believing a firework she lit set a boat on fire and destroyed Santino's wedding arrangement. "She was heartbroken", Santino recalled in Disgraceful with Grace O'Malley podcast earlier this year. However, none of Santino's jokes had any implication of emotional distress; rather, they remained within the realm of comedic exaggeration, as he might get invited after all.

Andrew Santino may have gotten closer to Taylor Swift since the 2012 prank, as evident from their recent spotting.

Taylor Swift catches up with Andrew Santino at a Chiefs game

On Sunday, as Taylor Swift sneaked into the stadium to witness her fiancé and the Chiefs defeat the Detroit Lions, a number of high-profile guests accompanied her, such as the likes of WNBA star Caitlin Clark and Andrew Santino. Santino was spotted chatting away with Taylor Swift at the latest Kansas City Chiefs game in a VIP suite, per the Daily Mail. The internet took it as a possible softening of his comedic jab, as his relaxed demeanor and seeming laughter caused people to speculate that the wedding diss was more in jest than genuine offense.

Santino, who had been friends with Travis Kelce for a long time, even admitted to Mythical Kitchen that the prank he played on Swift for the MTV show was not something she is still "stoked about." Though there is no official announcement whether Santino has been added to the guest list of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding, or officially forsaken, their recent encounter appeared friendly and drama-free, unlike Swift's 'The Life of a Showgirl' era, which has been courting more AI controversies than her friends.
