In a recent conversation with PEOPLE, Michael Bolton, who underwent an emergency brain surgery on December 4, 2023, reflected on his health risk challenge. “Succumbing to the challenge is not an option,” he said, speaking of the uncertainty that came with the diagnosis of glioblastoma two years ago. After the surgery, doctors were able to remove the brain tumor in its entirety. Bolton also underwent a second brain surgery in January 2024 because of an infection.
Bolton reportedly undergoes MRIs every two months after completing radiation and chemotherapy last October. According to the tabloid, his most recent scan, done in April, was clear. However, glioblastoma has a 90% recurrence rate. So, going forward, Bolton has to rely on monitoring. “Whenever you find yourself in any kind of challenging position, just to know that you’re not alone going through it is a big deal,” the Grammy-winner said.
While cancer diagnoses have seen a visible uptick in recent years, Michael Bolton shared how he had been settling into life since then.
