But he is still one of the few artists who has managed to keep himself on every Spotify playlist. It is no surprise that he has one of the largest followings in the music industry. Recently a fan page took to Twitter to announce that The Weeknd is officially the 10th artist to cross 70 million followers on Spotify. Thus ensuring that the &#8216;Blinding Lights&#8217; singer will go down in Spotify history. Considering the number of fans he has, it is a little surprising that it took so long.

Being the 10th artist to follow suit, the &#8216;Starboy&#8217; singer is only just at 70 million followers on Spotify. Whereas other artists that made the list before him have a significant head start. With Ed Sheeran leading the pack with 114.2 million followers, it is evident that The Weeknd may have some catching up to do.

The artist ended up setting a new Spotify listening record when he hit 100 million monthly listeners earlier this year. But that is not all; after that, the artist ended up breaking his own record with 112+ million monthly listeners.
