Teyana Taylor and Kanye West’s friendship has always been bigger than their music and even some of the controversies. Fans have watched the two support each other, push artistic boundaries, and occasionally make headlines together. Their collaborations in music videos and albums are still one of the most talked about, even to this day.

While they may have gone down separate paths, it does not diminish the impact they have had on each other’s careers. Their creative bond began when Taylor entered West’s orbit and later joined G.O.O.D. Music.

Teyana Taylor’s friendship with Kanye West began in 2010, when she worked on and offered advice for his album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'. She also contributed to background vocals. Later, she joined West’s record label in 2012. And over time, the two developed a strong friendship, often supporting each other in their projects.

One of their most notable collaborations was when Taylor went viral for her dance in Kanye West’s ‘Fade’ music video. During this period, Taylor also released four studio albums. Her friend, West, had also ensured enough guidance on her debut album, 'K.T.S.E.', which is 'Keep That Same Energy'.

However, tensions began to rise when Taylor felt that her work was not receiving the recognition it deserved. She expressed frustration over feeling underappreciated under Kanye West’s label.

The controversy involving Kanye West and Teyana Taylor

After her fourth studio album, Teyana Taylor did the unthinkable and bowed out, at least temporarily, from the music industry. Promising absence rather than finality, she redirected her talents toward Hollywood. Yet her exit from Kanye West’s label in 2020 came with a sharper note, as Taylor spoke candidly of feeling overlooked, unheard, and ultimately undercut by the very machine meant to amplify her voice.

There was also controversy over the early release and clearance issues of Taylor’s album 'K.T.S.E.' (Keep That Same Energy). While the actress has clearly moved on and started her acting career, earned fame, and even returned with her fifth album, 'Escape Room,' there are questions about her friendship with West.

Teyana Taylor addressed her friendship with Kanye West

Over the last few years, Kanye West has been in the headlines due to his controversial comments. Despite all this drama, his longtime friend Teyana Taylor shared that she will always be a good advisor to West. And that remains the same even as Taylor admitted that she does not agree with everything that the musician said.

“I don’t have to agree with everything that he does or says, but I’m not going to abandon him and be like, ‘Yeah, eff that mo----------’” she said, as per Vanity Fair.

“If you want a real answer, you ask me. So if he asks me something, he knows he’s gonna get a real answer,” she further added.
