Perhaps it was the absolute riot that Barbie and Oppenheimer brought to cinema in the past year and became at the end of not just the day but the year, the only thing people could talk about, the music industry has stepped up. Be it in the guise of Kendrick Lamar and Drake metaphorically grabbing each other by the throat or Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Ariana Grande, all dopping their albums back to back, all hell has broken loose on music fanatics.

It was clear from the time Grande nodded to a music comeback last year that 2024 is going to be a year of musical greatness. As this was followed by Swift winning a Grammy and Eilish stealing the show at the Oscars, the setup could not have been any better for the ultimate Album of the Year showdown. With almost a year left until the winner's name echoes on the Grammy stage, fans have already chosen their contenders.

Owing to all these talented female artists releasing their albums very close to each other, it would not be false to assume that fans are overwhelmed. This overwhelming musical havoc has even made way for genuine confusion regarding whether the Grammy Music Awards will be giving out two or even three Album of the Year awards.

While fans may be a tad bit overwhelmed, it has not taken away from their ability to identify top-notch music and etch on the pages of X, who they think is the inarguable winner and why it is not Taylor Swift.

At the beginning of the year, as Taylor Swift once again carried more awards in her hands than she could carry while also announcing her new album, the next year's turnout seemed almost too predictable. Following this, perhaps Ariana Grande found the lull in the charts to be as stale as those donuts so many years ago and Billie Eilish was struck by inspiration from her Hot Ones appearance, but they decided to season the plot. This seasoning has now made way for not so much a battle but a celebration as fans hail two winners and surprisingly, none of them are Taylor Swift.

While Swifties were guarding her honor left, right and center following the album release, following the release of Grande's and Eilish's album, they were left with no crumbs to argue. 

Swift may be out of the game despite the earlier surety that fans placed in her, but Beyoncé has made her way into the Album of the Year contenders' discussion like a dark horse.

Fans have unabashed in their love and support for all, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, and Billie Eilish. However, it was clear within an hour after the latter dropped her album that the Grammy Music Awards could not make a mistake this time. While time will tell who will ultimately take home the crown, for now, Billie Eilish rests with it at her home.
