Taylor Swift has got one of the biggest fanbases worldwide. But only a handful have managed to win the pop sensation's admiration. Griff, the singer and songwriter, is among the lucky ones. Although Griff had long been a Swiftie, her close bond with the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer blossomed in November 2020, and from there, it just clicked. One of the most memorable highlights of their bond was showcased at the 2021 BRIT ceremony when Swift gave Griff a shoutout in her speech and invited her backstage. They even shared fries in their fancy get-ups. Now, Griff has returned the favor with a big shoutout to Swift.

Griff appeared on the talk show Lipps Service with Scott Lipps earlier this month and she discussed her friendship with Taylor Swift. The episode closed with some of her Top 5’s, including her top 5 Taylor Swift songs. After giving it a lot of thought, she started with her number five which was ‘Hey Steven’ from ‘Fearless’. In the 4th spot was ‘Clean’ from ‘1989’. 

'Anti Hero' from 'Midnights' and 'August' from ‘Folklore’ landed on her third and second favorites respectively. However, for the first spot, Griff was in two minds and finally chose two tracks as her top favorites- 'Death By A Thousand Cuts' from 'Lover' and 'Blank Space' from '1989', the latter of which she even performed at her show. The singer also walked viewers through her evolving relationship with Swift over the years.

Griff revealed that while being a "Swiftie" is now a badge of honor, she has been an unofficial Swiftie for years, long before the phenomenon took off.

Just like Taylor Swift, Griff kicked off her career as a teenager. And this could probably be one of the reasons why Swift holds Griff in high regard and has shown confidence in her talent. Griff confessed to having Taylor Swift as a rock-solid support system for many years. The artist opened up, expressing her longtime admiration for Swift and admitting to being "secretly" a Swiftie for ages. 

Griff also highlighted that Swift does not necessarily have to endorse Griff's music since they are not directly connected, but the Grammy-winning songstress still does so, showcasing her generosity and kindness. In a 2021 interview with Bazaar, right after winning her BRITS award, Griff referred to Swift as her "idol". She also confessed to feeling intimidated by her as a songwriter, fearing she would disappoint herself because her songs would not measure up to some of her favorite Swift tracks. And now, it is out in the open which songs those are.
