Taylor Swift turned emotional during her 21-minute acceptance speech at the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony. Looking back at her career, the singer recalled the many sacrifices her family made to support her dreams. She went on to explain how her parents and siblings did not hesitate to relocate to Nashville, the heart of the music and songwriting industry, so she could pursue and grow her songwriting career.

“After making obvious that this was not even remotely a temporary phase their teen daughter was going through, they uprooted their entire lives to move me to Music City. And even though words are supposed to kind of be my thing, I will never be able to express my gratitude to you guys for doing that for me," she said.

“You’re the reason I’m here tonight,” Swift added.

Before the presentation, Sombr performed Swift’s songs 'Cardigan' and 'Dear John' in tribute to the singer. For the special and historic event, Swift was joined by her fiancé, Travis Kelce. Their mothers, Andrea Swift and Donna Kelce, were also in attendance. Another notable name who was in attendance at the event was legendary director Steven Spielberg.
