Taylor Swift has spent 2026 moving comfortably between pop spectacle and Hollywood culture, with her latest chapter placing her on a very different kind of stage. Now, she is set to perform at the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on October 17. The appearance brings her into an evening built around cinema, major industry names and one of the Academy Museum’s biggest fundraising nights.
For fans already wondering how to catch the performance, there is one important catch: there is currently no public broadcast or livestream announced for Taylor Swift’s Academy Museum Gala performance. The event is a private Hollywood fundraiser, so viewers should not expect a conventional concert-style stream on October 17.
Taylor Swift’s Academy Museum Gala performance will not have a public livestream
The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures announced Taylor Swift as the featured performer on Thursday, adding a major music draw to a gala that already had plenty of cinematic star power. The Academy Museum’s own information confirms that the museum will be closed on October 17 for the event, while its gala functions as a private fundraising occasion rather than a public performance. As of now, there is no announced television broadcast or official livestream for Swift’s set, meaning fans will have to rely on official social media posts, red-carpet coverage and subsequent reports for glimpses of the night.

Deadline was first among the outlets reporting the new performance announcement, noting that Swift has been booked for the sixth annual gala. The event will take place Saturday, October 17, at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, with filmmaker-composer John Carpenter, Colman Domingo and Charlize Theron serving as the evening’s honorees. Swift is expected to close the evening with her performance.
For Taylor Swift, the booking also lands during a particularly film-friendly stretch of her career. Her work has increasingly crossed into cinema through original songs, self-directed music videos and increasingly elaborate visual storytelling, making the Academy Museum setting a natural fit for her.
Why Taylor Swift is performing at the Academy Museum Gala
The choice also carries a little more symmetry than a straightforward celebrity booking. Academy Museum Director and President Amy Homma praised Taylor Swift.
“Taylor is an extraordinary talent whose work resonates around the world…We are thrilled to welcome her to this year’s gala and look forward to her performance to close a wonderful evening of honoring three extraordinary filmmakers and supporting the Academy Museum’s mission to celebrate and preserve cinema,” Homma said.

Swift arrives at the gala after another unusually busy run of 2026 appearances. She recently appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she received the inaugural Artist Director Award, and she also made a surprise appearance during Dakota Johnson’s Saturday Night Live episode earlier this month. Her 'Patient Zero' music video further underlined her increasingly hands-on relationship with filmmaking and visual production.
So, while fans cannot currently tune into a confirmed livestream for the October 17 performance, the Academy Museum Gala is still likely to generate plenty of digital chatter once the stars arrive. Swift’s performance may be happening behind closed doors, but the internet will almost certainly be watching the aftermath closely.
