With the MTV VMAs mere days away, it is no surprise that Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo have been in the spotlight more than usual. After all, there have been rumors of a feud between the two pop singers, and it was only enhanced by Rodrigo’s songs ‘Vampire’ and ‘The Grudge’. But while neither of the singers confirmed the rumors and speculation, they have both subtly added fuel to the fire without even realizing it. However, with the day of the ceremony getting closer, there are new questions that come to mind.

While Taylor Swift may be one of the biggest artists alive right now, Olivia Rodrigo managed to build a fan following similar to that of Swift’s. But with all the comparisons that have been drawn over the years, which pop icon won more Grammys and American Music Awards by the time they were 20?

While it may seem ironic to compare two artists with such a huge difference in experience, the singers have been compared to each other on more than one occasion. But to even the pitch, we are only considering the total number of Grammys and AMAs Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo won by the time they were 20, which is already a pretty long list. However, after her first award show in 2021, Olivia Rodrigo stole hearts and stunned the audience with multiple wins, just like another forty-time AMA winner.

Taylor Swift’s Grammy and AMA wins til 2010

Taylor Swift, who recently left fans speculating a new album announcement, may have begun her career back in 2005, but the recognition and nominations did not come in till three years later. While the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer may hold the record for most AMA wins with 40 wins and 48 nominations so far, it has not always been that way. Even though Swift had been nominated since 2007, she did not take home her first AMA till 2008.

The following year, 2009, the singer ended up bagging five more AMAs before she turned 20. However, that was not the end of it. In 2010, Swift won an AMA for Favorite Female Artist, which brought her American Music Awards to seven by the time she was 20.

While Taylor Swift now has 12 Grammy award wins, she became the youngest artist to win Album of the Year at the Grammys, back in 2010. That same night, the singer won three more Grammys for her album ‘Fearless’ and the song ‘White Horse’, which brought her total to four Grammys by 20 and a broken world record as well.

Olivia Rodrigo almost followed in Taylor Swift’s footsteps

Olivia Rodrigo may have risen to fame on Disney, but ever since the singer put out her first debut single and album, fans have been wrapped around her finger. But it was not till a year after ‘Sour’ that the singer won 3 Grammys at her first award show, in which she received 7 nominations. The singer won awards at the 2022 Grammys for Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Pop Vocal Album.

As for the AMAs, Olivia Rodrigo has not had Taylor Swift’s luck, but she still has a long way to go. So far, the ‘good 4 u’ singer has bagged only one AMA at the 2021 award ceremony. Unfortunately for Rodrigo, that year BTS won most categories. However, the singer was still the night’s top nominee with 7 nominations.
