Snoop Dogg wasted no time turning Madonna into the first punchline of his 2026 MTV Video Music Awards monologue. Fresh from the Queen of Pop’s spectacular return to the ceremony after 23 years, the West Coast rap legend praised her performance before taking a cheeky dig at her most famous VMA moment.

“Madonna just killed it. Now that is an icon. One thing I want to say is, she ain't a virgin no more,” he joked.

The joke was a direct wink to Madonna’s 1984 smash hit ‘Like a Virgin’ and the legendary performance that helped define the very first VMAs. Back then, Madonna rolled across the stage in a wedding dress while performing the song, creating one of the ceremony’s most enduring pop-culture moments. Forty-two years later, Snoop Dogg turned that history into an irresistible punchline.

Madonna had already made the perfect target by opening the 2026 ceremony with a star-studded medley alongside Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, and Seth Rogen. Snoop Dogg followed by giving the Queen of Pop her flowers before playfully pulling the ‘Like a Virgin’ card, setting the mischievous tone for a night built around big stars and even bigger laughs.

Taylor Swift may have inaugurated a VMA award, but Snoop Dogg followed by making the ceremony his own comedy playground by hilariously revealing he was responsible for the venue.

Snoop Dogg apparently had one very specific condition before agreeing to host the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards: Los Angeles or nothing. When producers told the West Coast rap icon that the ceremony would not be in his hometown, he simply declared that he was “busy.” They quickly reconsidered and returned with the news that the VMAs were now coming to LA.

That decision gave Snoop Dogg the perfect excuse to treat the Peacock Theater like his personal party headquarters. He promised the “biggest party” the VMAs had ever seen and even teased winners with his signature “special, sticky, icky, icky” reward. By the end of the night, his hometown hosting demand had become part of the very celebration he had insisted on creating.
