Paul McCartney returned to Los Angeles for a nostalgic trip down memory lane with an intimate concert. He sang several nostalgic hits from his early career and The Beatles' classics, including 'Help!,' 'Getting Better,' 'Lady Madonna,' 'Hey Jude,' and many more. Although the crowd at the Fonda Theatre was far smaller than anything McCartney and The Beatles had witnessed in their history, the love and spirit in the room reminded him of those early days.

Seeing the enthusiastic crowd, he reminisced about his first-ever trip to America with The Beatles.

Paul McCartney returned to Los Angeles for a two-night run at the Fonda Theatre. And being back in America stirred something deep in McCartney and reminded him of the first time he arrived in the States with his bandmates. He shared how they had not seen much in America and recalled how they were met with love and deafening screams.

“What we used to notice was that all the guys in the audience were looking at the chords you were playing, and they’d study it… and we kind of liked that. And all the girls weren’t,” he said during the concert.

When The Beatles arrived at the Los Angeles airport in 1964, a large group of photographers gathered to capture the moment. And the frenzied fans waited to witness the magic in person. Now, coming back to the present, the crowd responded to McCartney’s words with excited screams.

The energy in the room was infectious as McCartney performed and hyped up the crowd. Dustin Hoffman and Morgan Neville, who are behind the McCartney documentary Man on the Run, were also present among the lively crowd. After all, the event was meant to promote the legend’s newest album, 'The Boys of Dungeon Lane.'

The inspiration behind The Boys of Dungeon Lane

'The Boys of Dungeon Lane' is Paul McCartney’s first solo album in nearly six years and the 19th of his career. The album takes him back through his own past, which he describes as a collection of glimpses into “never-before-shared” memories. He explained that the songs are inspired by the place he once called home and the streets he knows so well.
