Olivia Rodrigo vs Donald Trump Feud: How the 22-Year-Old Pop Star Became Protest Poster Voice Against ICE

A nation's elite history, placed on the map as immigration enhanced its colors, now faces wildfires of internal turmoil for the world to see. Plato might have kicked the poets out of his ideal state, but Tinseltown's lyricists are not backing down amid the ongoing protests. Taking back one song at a time, Olivia Rodrigo attempts to protect the stories of immigrants that come down through generations, including herself. Through her music, she has reached the very center of pop power and social conscience, even in conflict with the government.

What are the reasons for Rodrigo's speaking out, and who is she challenging?

Amidst a changing cultural wave, Filipino American singer Olivia Rodrigo has lent her bold support to the immigrants of her country. Rodrigo’s clash with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) eventually made it to the news when the agencies played her 2023 song 'All-American Bi---' in a November 4, 2025, Instagram post that encouraged illegal immigrants to self-deport. The video showed ICE arresting people and had her music playing, with a "LEAVE NOW" warning issued against immigrants in the caption.

Openly torching the White House and DHS, Rodrigo, 22, reacted by commenting, "Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda." For her, linking her 'Guts' album track to deportation was not only an infringement on artistic intent but also an insult to immigrant dignity. Rodrigo did not mind going head-to-head with the Donald Trump administration, as she has been vocal about her tough political views in public, unlike several big names in the music industry.

Several Hollywood celebrities attended the No Kings Protests. Some artists, like Jeff Daniels, sang ballads to challenge Trump, and Olivia Rodrigo took back her song.

Olivia Rodrigo never kept quiet against Donald Trump

Olivia Rodrigo's feud with Donald Trump predates her recent Instagram comment. This is not the first time Rodrigo has spoken out against the Trump administration, as she had also joined the No Kings Protests when anti-ICE deportations fueled a nationwide uprising recently. She has not only spoken about immigrants' rights recently, but also quickly removed one of her songs from TikTok after it was used in a Trump victory video last year.

Back in June 2025, during the nationwide protests against ICE raids, Rodrigo wrote on her Instagram story that her city, Los Angeles, "simply wouldn't exist without immigrants." She went on to declare that the treatment of the hard-working immigrants without respect, empathy, and due process is awful, making her stance against ICE and Trump crystal clear. By doing so, she changed her art into an act of solidarity and made her platform not just for music but also for justice.
