The show first premiered on Disney Channel in 2006, with a 13-year-old Cyrus spearheading the series. Twenty years later, Cyrus is preparing a meaningful tribute. She said, "I want to design something really, really special for it because it really was the beginning of all of this." Whether it is a concert, new merch, or a reboot, she has not spilled any details yet.

Cyrus also discussed her ever-evolving dynamic with the character, conceding that the role of Hannah Montana had initially been burdensome when she was young and transitioning into adulthood under the harsh spotlight. Taking to The Ringer’s Every Single Album podcast, Cyrus discussed at length her struggle to shed the character and embrace her own identity. She also revealed that due to contractual obligations, she was banned from singing Hannah Montana's most loved songs, owing to the explicit nature of her personal discography. However, in 2024, Cyrus was recognized as a Disney Legend, following which she was permitted to revisit Hannah Montana's songs again.

With the release of her ninth studio album in May 2025 and her recent announcement of the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary project in 2026, Miley Cyrus seems adamant in pursuit of a nostalgic reunion with the Disney icon. Even though a full episodic resurrection might not be in the cards. Cyrus is ready to embrace her past and present to fuse them into a heartfelt tribute.
