According to reports, singer Lionel Richie became ill at his concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, telling the audience he was feeling dizzy. He had to cut the show short, but carried on performing while seated for a short time during 'Dancing on the Ceiling'. Paramedics arrived backstage later to see Richie.

They sent him by ambulance to a nearby hospital as a precaution. After Richie left the stage, his band stayed on stage for about 15 minutes before leaving, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported. About 40 minutes after Richie had called for the intermission, his saxophonist, Dino Soldo, announced to the audience that he was unwell and would not be able to continue with the show after he left the stage.

Sources connected to Richie told TMZ, where the news was first broken, that it was a precautionary measure. At the concert, he looked as well as could be expected under the circumstances. He joked with the audience that the best thing to do in this situation was to sit down.

Richie and Earth, Wind, and Fire’s North American tour kicked off Wednesday night. He was a little dehydrated, Earth, Wind & Fire drummer John Paris told the Star-Tribune. Paris said he had seen no indication of any health issues for Richie before the show.
