Kanye West postpones Almaty stadium concert due to weather conditions

Kanye West has postponed his upcoming concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan due to bad weather, telling fans the show will now take place on August 15. The rapper announced the change to fans on social media, highlighting that health and safety were the priority.  The postponement is being announced just hours before the concert was due to take place. The Almaty show was part of West’s return to live performances and had attracted much attention, with fans eagerly awaiting the chance to see him on stage.

“To the people of Almaty, due to weather conditions, today’s concert will be postponed until tomorrow. Health and safety are a priority. See you tomorrow,” West wrote, emphasizing the safety while assuring fans the concert will take place the next day.

As per his X post, on August 14, 2026, Kanye West was supposed to perform his first stadium concert in Kazakhstan at Almaty Central Stadium. The much-anticipated show was set to begin at 9 p.m. local time as part of his Ye Tour 2026. The concert, organized by First Media Group and Freedom Holding, is expected to draw a large crowd. It is reportedly one of West’s biggest international gigs, with reports saying ticket prices were approximately between KZT 10,000 and KZT 350,000.

Kanye West’s connection to Kazakhstan goes back more than a decade, with a private performance there years before his planned stadium debut.

Kanye West, who recently performed in L.A, has a previous link to Kazakhstan, having performed a private show in the country in 2013. He was present at the wedding of Aisultan Nazarbayev, grandson of then-President Nursultan Nazarbayev, at the Royal Tulip Hotel in Almaty. Videos and photos of the lavish celebration later emerged online and attracted international attention to the performance. At the time, reports said West was paid about $3 million for the private appearance, although the figure was never independently confirmed.

Meanwhile, West’s postponed Almaty concert is another chapter in his long-standing relationship with Kazakhstan. West has performed a private show there in 2013. Now, more than a decade later, his return to the country has been delayed by weather conditions, pushing back his highly anticipated stadium concert. The concert is now scheduled for August 15, meaning fans will have to wait a little longer to see West hit the stage, making the event one of the most anticipated stops on his latest return to live performance.
