The year 2026 is really proving to be a mixed bag for Kanye West. Despite his record-breaking comeback in the US, it seems that the rest of the world is not yet ready to forgive him for what he said and did in the past. Even though he remains apologetic for his actions, most of Europe has banned or cancelled his shows, and now Russia has also joined that list.

The Russian stadium that was supposed to host Kanye West has backed out now, leaving the rapper’s gigs in the country in limbo.

Kanye West, the rapper now better known by his stage name Ye, was supposed to perform twice at a Russian stadium named Gazprom Arena as part of his Ye Live Concert Tour 2026, but the event has been canceled. The stadium in St. Petersburg stated on social media that the concert promoters had not completed a leasing agreement. 

"Accordingly, the concert cannot take place on our site," the stadium said in its post.

While acknowledging that it had received concerns regarding West's scheduled visit, Gazprom Arena emphasized that it "was not and is not" accountable for his bookings. In a statement via its social media post, the stadium said that the Moscow-based Say Agency was responsible for organizing the sold-out concerts on October 10 and 11. 

Posting on its Telegram channel, Say Agency expressed surprise over the stadium's announcement, noting that they learned about the decision through the media at the same time as the public. Clarifying that the concert had not officially been canceled at that point, the agency stated that they were attempting to contact venue representatives to determine the reason for the post and resolve the situation, promising to provide further updates as they became available.

Kanye West seems to be paying his dues for his past mistakes, which seem not to be forgiven anytime soon.

Kanye West seems to be facing the consequences of his antisemitic statements that started in 2022 after he posted a number of derogatory remarks on social media, which resulted in the suspension of his accounts. Adidas and Balenciaga, two fashion labels, also severed ties with the celebrity. He even went as far as declaring himself a “N***,” releasing a song called ‘H*** H*****’ and selling T-shirts with the swastika on them. 

Notably, West would have been the first well-known Western artist to perform in Russia since the start of there country's clash with Ukraine in 2022. The rapper seemed ready to take over Russian audiences and even announced the dates and times of the concerts. But now the stadium’s refusal to host him has made things difficult.
