Kanye West is facing fresh legal trouble linked to a two-year-old dispute with an unidentified man at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood. The case was first revealed by TMZ, which reported that the plaintiff has filed a civil lawsuit accusing West of battery and infliction of emotional distress over an incident that allegedly took place in April 2024.

According to the complaint, West approached the man at his table, punched him in the face without warning, knocked him to the ground, and then continued to punch him while he was unconscious. The plaintiff also claims he hit his head during the fall and lost consciousness. The suit further alleges that West falsely accused the man of engaging in offensive and inappropriate behavior toward a woman at the rapper’s party.

West later repeated and embellished the story on a high-profile podcast, exposing him to public scorn and ridicule, as per the unidentified man. The plaintiff is suing under the name John Doe and is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. TMZ reported that representatives for West have not yet issued a public response to the lawsuit.
