Every Kanye West album arrives carrying the weight of a public trial. Critics dissect it, social media declares a verdict within hours, and fans spend weeks arguing over whether it belongs beside 'Late Registration', 'Graduation', or 'Donda'. Somehow, the commercial result usually tells a different story. As 'BULLY' climbs the charts once again, West has revealed why this particular success outweighs every previous number one album of his career.

For an artist who once declared himself a creative revolutionary on 'Power' and turned vulnerability into spectacle on 'Runaway', the story behind 'BULLY' reveals that the loudest victory this time happened long before the charts began speaking.

During Gamma CEO Larry Jackson's panel at the Urban One Summit, Jackson phoned Kanye West live and handed him the microphone to address the audience directly. Speaking candidly to supporters, West explained why 'BULLY' means more than any of his previous chart-topping albums. 

"A year into making the project I went into an episode, so this right here is a celebration, a victory, and a success story of people who have dealt with mental health crises," he said. 

For an artist whose legacy includes landmark records like 'Graduation' and the collaborative powerhouse 'Watch the Throne', placing 'BULLY' above those commercial milestones transformed the conversation from Billboard rankings into something deeply personal.

Jackson later explained that the call was intended to let West personally thank fans who had supported the album's success. During the conversation, West reflected on how songs from 'BULLY' were performing commercially while comparing the album's achievements with classics from different chapters of his career. The tour supports 'BULLY', which debuted at number one on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart following its March release.

West acknowledged that suffering a severe mental health episode roughly a year into the album's creation completely changed how he viewed its eventual success.

The celebration surrounding 'BULLY' is not ending with streaming records. Its next chapter is preparing to unfold on one of the biggest stages in Southeast Asia.

Kanye West is scheduled to perform at Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on October 24, marking the only Southeast Asian stop on his 2026 'Ye Live Concert Tour'. Organized by Raw Vision Collective, the concert is expected to welcome as many as 77,000 fans from Indonesia, neighboring countries, and Australia. The production will feature West's signature Globe Stage, a 360-degree setup designed to place audiences at the center of the performance. 

The world tour has already traveled through the United States and includes dates across Turkey, the Netherlands, Georgia, Spain, Kazakhstan, and the United States before arriving in Jakarta. However, its European leg has also faced notable disruptions because of West's past antisemitic remarks, with multiple planned performances canceled and the United Kingdom barring his entry earlier this year. Even so, few artists continue to generate the same mixture of anticipation, controversy, and fascination. 

Whether 'BULLY' ultimately joins the pantheon of Kanye West's defining classics remains to be seen, but its creator already considers it his most meaningful victory.
