In the Just Trish podcast, she admitted that “I tried everything”, referencing her attempts with popular methods, including medications like GLP-1, and why the other medication, like Ozempic, is still better because it comes with a better diet, because it asks you to take food in portions, not in bulk.
She explained how these medications are used for managing obesity and type 2 diabetes. She even made sure to keep her point that this method of weight loss is not suitable for her body type. No doubt, everybody needs a different pattern of weight loss. However, she has been documenting the journey of her weight loss for the past two years till now, in the context of which she said that any weight loss activity comes with the right diet.
The Grammy winner made it a point to be as transparent as possible about her journey, so the question stands: what made Lizzo take a shift from medications to a better diet, and why?
Rethinking Diets: Lizzo’s New Approach
Lizzo has been vocal about her vegan lifestyle. She explained that being vegan made her add fake meats, a lot of rice, and sugar-rich food to her diet, though it made her feel full, the consequences were quite bad. According to her, adding non-vegetarian food such as meat like chicken, beef, and fish, even if taken in the right portion, makes you feel full and helps to balance the diet, which was one of the best decisions.

She suggested that no matter how effective these medications like Ozempic can be or cannot be for weight loss, even if it is opted for weight loss by many, the purpose of medications like Ozempic is to deal with type 2 diabetes, and it is made to cure a disease people are suffering from. What begins with so much struggle ends up with a simple change in the diet and lifestyle.
