“I Put Garlic” Grow-Good Owner Cardi B Reveals How DIY Beauty Trick Went Terribly Wrong

Music icon Cardi B almost turned into an internet haircare and beauty guru back in 2020. Everyday ingredients lying on her kitchen counter, like avocado and eggs, became staples in her DIY hair masks for gorgeous curls. These were not random recipes as the Grow-Good founder and owner has researched and even experimented to figure out what worked for her hair, and the internet loved it.
The formulations, however, did not come to be overnight; the icon had faced failures during this journey. She recently revealed that garlic is one DIY beauty trick that left her regretting the experiment.

Music icon Cardi B knows better now than to mess with garlic when it comes to her haircare masks. During a conversation on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she told Jimmy Fallon that she had always used well-known DIY remedies like onion and rice water for her hair before deciding to experiment with raw garlic. And she revealed that it left her smelling like a pasta bowl.
“But this time I decided to go raw garlic. Like, I'm like what? I don't got time to boil it and I was smelling like a chicken Caesar salad for six months straight,” she said
Safe to say that one did not go as she would have liked. Now, Cardi B’s warning about garlic has clearly been heard. But she has also found a new platform to share what does work, and that is her new haircare brand, Grow-Good. The singer’s hair has been through it all, such as perm damage, bleaching, and constant styling for her career.
But behind the scenes, she has spent time experimenting with different DIY recipes to restore and make her hair healthy again. Drawing from her Dominican roots and traditional beauty rituals, she finally landed on recipes and masks that worked for her. Now, those concoctions have been bottled into her new haircare line.
She has also recently opened up about the brand, explaining what sets it apart from the rest.

Millionaire Cardi B announced the launch of her brand, Grow Good, on Instagram, declaring that her dreams have finally come true. Later, during an interview with Allure, the singer was asked about the competition, especially with so many celebrity brands in the market. And she had an amusing and satisfying response.
“People are gonna buy my shit just off my name, but are you gonna come back? It’s about coming back,” she said.

She has teamed up with Revolve Group for the venture. While the products will officially be available on the website from April 14, pre-orders began on March 24. And speaking of the products, one will also find Get Rich Mask, which features ingredients like avocado, coconut, banana extract, and aloe vera, which will be familiar to those who have followed her DIY haircare phase.
Her DIY masks may have worked well on social media, but whether that success translates to her brand will be something to watch closely.
