In a recent Vanity Fair interview on Tuesday, October 14, Charli xcx moreover, elegantly evaded a direct inquiry concerning Swift's song. Despite the intensity of fan speculation regarding the alleged diss track, Charli simply declined to offer any comment, choosing to uphold a boundary of silence. She said, "People are going to think what they want to think."

Even though there is no definitive confirmation, artists have a long history of association, which has been reflected in their lyrics, even if they say they are not about each other. 

The lyrics of Charli xcx's 'Sympathy Is a Knife' fueled speculation that it was about feeling insecure around Taylor Swift, specifically referencing her ex, Matty Healy, Charli's husband's bandmate. Swift's song title seems to challenge Charli's album track, 'Everything Is Romantic,' deepening the rumored tension, despite Charli's claims of personal anxiety. 

Swift’s 2025 track, 'Actually Romantic', appears to be a point-by-point rebuttal that reframes the entire dynamic by almost everyone. The song’s title itself seems to mock Charli's 'Everything Is Romantic'. Swift opens with lyrics interpreted as a jab at Charli’s persona, mentioning being called "Boring Barbie" and referencing a conversation about her ex. While the artists stand deny the allegations, fans cannot stop reading between the lines.
