Fact Check: Did Sabrina Carpenter Call Out Justin Bieber’s Coachella 2026 Set

The contrast is hard to miss, with Sabrina Carpenter rising dramatically from a car amid a water fountain at the Coachella headlining event, while Justin Bieber spent nearly 30 minutes playing clips of classic hits on YouTube. But these differences are what make each performance unique. Regardless, the gap has sparked a debate online, with many criticizing Bieber’s set as underwhelming despite his reportedly high fee.
Now, amid the backlash, a questionable comment allegedly made by Carpenter calling out Bieber has also begun circulating. While the debate continues to rage on, it is worth knowing whether there is any truth to Carpenter’s comment.

An X post by Daily Noud, who has nearly 134.4K followers, claimed that Sabrina Carpenter commented on Justin Bieber’s Coachella set. As per the post, the singer allegedly said that while Bieber can perform songs on YouTube, she would have been criticized if she did the same. But the comment might not be true.
“Nice of him to sit and scroll on YouTube, but if I did that I’d be crucified,” the comment read.
There is no news outlet that has confirmed the comment. Moreover, Daily Noud is a parody account, which further suggests that the claim may not be true. However, the chatter around Justin Bieber’s performance, particularly the lack of backup dancers and minimal stage design, has continued to make the rounds after he reportedly earned $10 million from the event.
Although he played videos on YouTube for the event, several fans praised the intimate nature of his performance. The YouTube segment was perhaps a tribute to the platform where he was initially discovered. The singer leaned more into nostalgia with much anticipated classics like 'Baby' and 'Never Say Never.'
Now, while Bieber was being criticized on social media for his performance, Sabrina Carpenter also unknowingly caught up in a separate controversy.
Sabrina Carpenter criticized for calling Zaghrouta “weird”
Sabrina Carpenter landed in hot water after she mistook a fan’s traditional celebratory call, known as a zaghrouta, for yodeling during her Coachella performance and called it “weird” on stage. The clip quickly went viral, with social media split over whether her reaction was insensitive or simply a misunderstanding. However, Carpenter soon addressed the situation, apologizing and admitting she did not understand it at the time.
“My apologies I didn’t see this person with my eyes and couldn’t hear clearly,” Carpenter said on X. “My reaction was pure confusion, sarcasm and not ill intended.”

Along with an apology, she even said she now welcomes all kinds of cheers going forward. While some continued to criticize her, others accepted the apology. Now, although for different reasons, it seems both Carpenter and Bieber have landed in controversy after their Coachella performance. And it does not seem to be ending anytime soon.
