Dua Lipa Follows Rumored Ex Jack Harlow’s Saturday Night Live Success With Similar Iconic Role

Dua Lipa is definitely up there as one of the top dogs in the pop world, so it is no shocker that her love life ends up becoming a constant subject of gossip. One of the rumored entanglements involving the pop queen was with rapper Jack Harlow. Harlow was not among those to beat around the bush about his crush. He straight up dropped a track called 'Dua Lipa' on his 2022 album 'Come Home the Kids Miss You', showing his admiration for the songstress. But as time went on, the rumor fizzled out4.

Now, nearly two years later, it looks like Dua Lipa might be crossing paths with Harlow once again, allegedly taking a cue from him by hitting the Saturday Night Live stage.

Is Dua Lipa following in the footsteps of Jack Harlow?

Singer Dua Lipa is getting ready to do it all on the May 4 episode of Saturday Night Live, playing both host and musical guest. The same was announced during this Saturday's show, hosted by Ryan Gosling and featured musical performances by Chris Stapleton. This news came just a year and a half after Jack Harlow rocked the stage with his debut performance on the same show. His Halloween episode in season 48 earned him a reputation as one of the liveliest guests the show has had in ages.

That said, this will not be Dua Lipa's first go-around on Saturday Night Live as she has been a guest on the show twice in the past. But this time, she is stepping into a new territory by hosting the show. She will be starting off the final leg of Season 49, which had a delay due to the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike, pushing the premiere to October. It has been a year of firsts for the 'Levitating' songstress, including her debut leading role in Henry Cavill's film, Argylle.

Even with a cast filled with big names, Dua Lipa's first significant acting gig, following her brief appearance in Barbie, turned out to be a flop at the box office.

Why did Argylle bomb at the box office?

Argylle brought a plot that was a breath of fresh air in spy action movies. But despite its originality, the film flopped hard, earning a thumbs-down from critics and movie buffs alike. But what many may have missed was that this film was pretty much doomed from the start. To begin with, Argylle's entirely unique plotline meant it had a 50% chance of failure, as such new concepts in movies often struggle to find favor with audiences upon release.

When people do not get the gist of a movie in the trailer, they often just shrug it off, not bothering to dive deeper into it. Even though this film has been plastered all over with trailers showing Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa playing spies, it left many viewers feeling puzzled, struggling to understand its message. But fingers crossed that, unlike Argylle, Dua Lipa's first stint as a Saturday Night Live host is a smash hit with fans, much like her rumored ex, Jack Harlow’s.
