Harry Styles has explained his Halloween look. The pop star chose to dress up as the viral New York City Pizza Rat as he closed out his 30-show Together, Together residency at Madison Square Garden on Halloween night. Styles walked out for the first half of the concert wearing a massive, head-to-toe furry brown onesie with pink paws. He also brought a giant fake foam slice of pizza to complete his look.

The singer told the crowd why exactly he chose to wear the costume for the second night of his traditional “Harryween” concerts.

Harry Styles jokes about dressing up as a rodent

Harry Styles' Pizza Rat costume was a direct tribute to New York City. He paid homage to the 2015 NYC subway rat video that went viral showing a determined subway rat dragging a massive slice of pizza down the stairs. The rat soon became the city's unofficial mascot for its chaotic, gritty, carb-loving spirit of a true New Yorker.

"I thought I’d use this momentous point in my career to dress like a rodent. Feels fitting, really," Styles told the crowd, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Although Styles initially planned to perform in the rat suit as long as possible, he had to do a quick wardrobe change halfway through the set to prevent heatstroke. He performed the rest of the set in a white graphic T-shirt that read "I AM A RAT" in bold black letters, paired with short black shorts, the rodent ear headband from the original costume described by THR, and the pink tail. The costume was only one of the many surprises.

Harry Styles’ epic Residency finale

Nobody in the arena saw this one coming. Harry Styles broke into an electrifying live cover of Talking Heads' iconic classic, 'Psycho K*****.' This was a rather unexpected turn from his usual feel-good pop-funk repertoire. Things got even more exciting when New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson made an unannounced appearance, joining Styles onstage for a huge embrace. The duo then unveiled a permanent banner honoring Styles' record-breaking 30-show run, now immortalized in the venue's iconic rafters. Overcome with emotion, Styles sank to his knees as the crowd celebrated the milestone.

Madison Square Garden made the occasion even more special by introducing a permanent Defining Moments museum exhibit on its sixth-floor concourse. Watching the celebrations unfold from the VIP section was Styles' fiancée, Zoë Kravitz, who joined the star-studded crowd in cheering him on. Safe to say, Harryween lived up to its name!
