Dolly Parton has long been a symbol of enduring energy in music, with hits like 'Jolene' and '9 to 5' still resonating across generations. Even at 80, she has continued touring, releasing new material, and expanding her Dollywood theme park with ambitious attractions. Her stamina and charisma have made her appear almost unstoppable.

But her fans are worried after her latest appearance.

Dolly Parton cites health issues behind Dollywood cancellation

Dolly Parton was scheduled to appear in person at her Dollywood theme park on Friday for the grand opening of a new rollercoaster, NightFlight Expedition. Instead, she made a virtual appearance from Nashville, explaining that ongoing health issues prevented her from traveling. In a video message shown to fans, she apologized for her absence and said she was still in Nashville.

The 80-year-old singer explained that she had been experiencing episodes of dizziness and dehydration. Her personal doctor advised her not to travel that week, leading Parton to stay home rather than make the journey to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. She approached the situation with her characteristic humor, acknowledging that when a doctor says it is time to stay put, there is little room for argument.

The situation echoes recent health scares involving other veteran performers, including Rod Stewart, who faced concern after appearing unsteady during a recent concert. As with Stewart, Parton’s team has not provided detailed medical information, leaving fans hoping for a swift recovery while respecting her privacy.

Taylor Swift makes Nashville history at just 36

Taylor Swift has been named to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Class of 2026, becoming the youngest songwriter ever inducted. The recognition arrives exactly 20 years after the release of her debut single, 'Tim McGraw', creating a striking full-circle moment for the singer who moved to Nashville as a teenager to pursue song-writing.

Swift was selected in the Contemporary Songwriter/Artist category alongside Lyle Lovett, Shawn Camp, Lee Thomas Miller, and Bruce Channel. Although she was unable to attend the announcement at Belmont University, she sent a letter reflecting on her early connection to Nashville and its importance in shaping her career.

Her self-titled debut album arrived in 2006 and established Swift as a country artist before her career expanded across pop, folk, and other musical styles. The Nashville honor adds another major songwriting milestone to her 2026 achievements. Earlier this year, she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York, where she became the youngest woman ever inducted.
