Perhaps the fans of country music must have vibed to ‘Jolene,’ ‘I Will Always Love You,’ ‘Coat of Many Colors,’ and ‘9 to 5’ at some point in their life and fell in love with the emotional warmth her songs provided. That was the magic that Dolly Parton created with her words. But sadly, the musical genius is no longer with us, as she has passed to the other side at the age of 80 after a long-time health battle.

According to a family statement, Dolly Parton, who ascended from modest beginnings to the pinnacles of American music and became one of the nation's most charitable, unifying, and adored celebrities, passed away at the age of 80 on Tuesday at her Nashville home. The statement, which was given to her nephew Bryan Seaver, said that Parton passed away "peacefully." A small, private service would be performed for her close family, per the announcement.

Over the course of her more than 50-year career, Parton wrote more than 3,000 songs that encapsulated the American experience. Among them was 'Coat of Many Colors,' a subdued tribute to her mother, who sewed clothes in the family's rural Tennessee home. 'Jolene' and 'I Will Always Love You' are two of the love and heartbreak songs she penned and performed. 

The title track from the film of the same name, in which Parton also appeared, '9 to 5,' became an anthem for American workers and women. Now that the video announcement via her nephew’s Facebook account informs the world of her passing, these songs are all that are left for her fans to remember her by.

Unfortunately, the news was not that shocking, as the legendary singer was going through a health crisis recently.

The veteran singer had canceled a performance at her famous Dollywood theme park a week earlier after a doctor had advised her not to travel because of persistent health issues. On August 14, Dolly Parton was supposed to make an in-person appearance at her Dollywood theme park to celebrate the inauguration of NightFlight Expedition, a brand-new rollercoaster.

Rather, she appeared virtually from Nashville, stating that she was unable to travel due to ongoing health problems. She said she was still in Nashville and expressed regret for her absence in a video message that fans were shown. The late icon abruptly revealed in May that she had to postpone her first Las Vegas residency in almost 30 years due to "health challenges." Anyhow, the official cause of Parton's death has not been made public.
